For the first growing season they will learn from local people what specific techniques are used in the area for agriculture and small livestock. They will also visit dryland research centers to learn what new techniques and starter materials are available. Working with the local people's suggestions, field staff will grow improved crops and demonstrate new dryland farming techniques.
